Gold is so beautiful to look at especially when we see it on our skin. It is also used in skin care products. A product that uses gold is very expensive. It can cost up to $700. These companies claim that gold can preserve and regenerate collagen on the skin as well as elastin to minimize wrinkle formation thus tightening the skin. Unfortunately studies have proven that it is not true at all. Other companies also claim that it has an anti-inflammatory effect, which is actually true. White gold was actually used before to treat arthritis however, it was discontinued because of its severe side effects.
There has been no evidence that gold is actually good for the skin but many studies conducted by dermatologists all over the world have proven that it is really bad for the skin.
Many are actually getting allergies from gold and the numbers are increasing yearly. Gold may look good on the skin as an accessory and used to show luxury but it is still another kind of metal which the skin can develop allergies form. It is not only gold that can develop allergies on the skin, but other minerals, such as bismuth and mica, as well that are used in make ups which also contributes to the number of people who has gold allergies.
A skin disease known as Lichen Planus is known to have been caused by the use of gold. It is a disease where it causes purple papules to appear on the skin.
We just have to be wary of the contents of the skin care products that we use and apply on our skin. We have to avoid those that may contain gold as it can eventually lead to skin problems and complications.
